Genomes from the
Treetops

The forest canopy is one of the least explored ecosystems on Earth. Suspended dozens of metres above the ground, it harbours an extraordinary diversity that remains remarkably difficult to study. This project was born from a simple question: how can we better understand and protect this hidden biodiversity?

To address this challenge, this project explores how non-invasive approaches can help reveal the diversity of arboreal mammals while minimizing disturbance to the animals and their habitat. By combining canopy access and molecular biology, the project aims to develop new tools for studying and conserving tropical biodiversity.
